- Statement of Need
- There is a clear and compelling need for better primary care and specialist physician education and training regarding the evaluation and management of behavioral disorders-such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism- encountered in children and adults with developmental disabilities.
- Conference Goal
- The overall goal of this conference is to improve clinical knowledge, skills, and competency of healthcare professionals regarding evaluation and management of behavioral disorders - such as Autism - experienced by adults and children with developmental disabilities.
- Educational Objectives
- Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the hypothesized underlying basic biochemical and pathophysiological mechanisms that lead to ADHD in adults and children with developmental disabilities.
- Describe how ADHD are diagnosed in adults and children with developmental disabilities.
- Discuss various treatment/management strategies that may be effective in the overall treatment of ADHD encountered in adults and children with developmental disabilities.

- Pediatricians, Internists, Family Practitioners, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, and other health professionals who provide services to adults and children with developmental disabilities.
- Accreditation Statement
- The Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians.
- The American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) to provide continuing education for physicians.
- Credit Designation Statement
- The Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
- Instructions to Receive Credit
